Giulia Pavesi

Giulia Pavesi is finishing her Ph.D. in space law at the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, Institute for International Law, KU Leuven.

Bio

Giulia Pavesi is finishing her Ph.D. in space law at the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies (GGS), Institute for International Law, KU Leuven, where she was awarded a fellowship from the Research Foundation – Flanders for fundamental research. Her fields of interest are international space law (with a focus on space security), hybrid warfare applied to space, and European space policy and security. Giulia has been a teaching assistant in space organizations, international organizations and European legal theory. At the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in EU Space Governance, Giulia is in charge of organizing and designing the annual space lecture series on European and international space governance, providing a network for exchange among high-level professionals, academics from leading institutions, students and civil society.

At GGS, Giulia is also an expert in multi-stakeholder projects on space traffic management, European space policy and law, and European space security. Giulia has published on space security, space situational awareness, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and space, European space policy, European space security and space traffic management, and international responsibility in space law and arbitration in space activities. She also collaborated as a project assistant, speaker and moderator in international conferences and round tables on space security. Giulia is a member of the International Institute of Space Law and an alumna cum laude of the Institute for Advanced Defence Studies (Italian Defence).
