Bio
Pietro Carlo Padoan is chairman of the board of directors of UniCredit. A distinguished academic, he has served as minister of economy and finance of the Italian government (2014–2018); deputy secretary general and chief economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development; executive director of the International Monetary Fund; and economic adviser to the prime minister, responsible for coordinating the Italian position in negotiations of the Agenda 2000 for the EU budget, the Lisbon Agenda, the European Council, bilateral meetings and the Group of Eight meetings. He is also currently a member of the executive committee of the Italian Banking Association, chairperson of the High Level Group on EU Policy Innovation, a member of the board of the Institute of International Finance, a vice president of Istituto Affari Internazionali, and a senior fellow and member of the Scientific Council of the School of European Political Economy at Luiss University.
