Bio

Richard Reisman is a non-resident senior fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation, and frequent contributor to Tech Policy Press. He blogs on human-centred digital services and related tech policy at SmartlyIntertwingled.com, and his work was cited in a US Federal Trade Commission report to Congress in 2022, Combatting Online Harms Through Innovation.

In spring 2024, he is part of the team convening the symposium “Shaping the Future of Social Media with Middleware” sponsored by Foundation for American Innovation and the Stanford Cyber Policy Center. The symposium’s discussions will be published in a comprehensive white paper later in 2024.

His book, FairPay: Adaptively Win-Win Customer Relationships, and related blog, FairPayZone.com, introduce customer-value-first revenue strategies for digital services and were described in 2013 in Harvard Business Review. He has managed and consulted for businesses of all sizes, developed pioneering online services, and holds over 50 media-tech patents licensed by over 200 companies to serve billions of users (now all in public domain). He has an A.B. in applied math from Brown University and an M.S. in operations research from Lehigh University.
