Bio

Roya Pakzad is a research associate and project leader in technology and human rights at Stanford University’s Global Digital Policy Incubator (GDPi) and Stanford’s program in Iranian Studies. She was born in Tehran and holds degrees from Shahid Beheshti University (B.Sc. in electrical engineering), the University of Southern California (M.Sc. in electrical engineering) and Columbia University (M.A. in human rights studies). Before entering the field of human rights, Roya served three years at Advanced Micro Devices as a digital design engineer. Roya is the creator and editor of the Humane AI newsletter and interview series (www.royapakzad.co/newsletter). She lives in Santa Cruz, California.
