Hyoung-kyu Chey is associate professor of international political economy at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. 

Bio

Hyoung-kyu Chey is associate professor of international political economy at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo. 

He received a Ph.D. in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2006, and worked as an economist in the Economic Research Institute at the Bank of Korea (South Korea’s central bank) prior to joining GRIPS in 2011. His main research area is the international political economy of money and finance, with a regional specialty in East Asia. He is the author of International Harmonization of Financial Regulation: The Politics of Global Diffusion of the Basel Capital Accord (Routledge, 2014) and his papers have appeared in various major journals in the fields of international political economy and international economics.
