The Centre for Future Work focuses on issues of work, labour markets, income, economic development, technology, inequality, skills and more.

Jim Stanford is an economist and director of the Centre for Future Work, based at the Australia Institute. The Australia Institute is Australia’s most influential progressive think tank. The Centre for Future Work focuses on issues of work, labour markets, income, economic development, technology, inequality, skills and more. The centre was founded in May 2016, with Jim as its inaugural director. Jim divides his time between Sydney, Australia, and Vancouver, Canada. He remains one of Canada’s best-known economic commentators. He served for more than 20 years as economist
and director of policy for Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector trade union (formerly the Canadian Auto Workers). He is also the Harold Innis Industry Professor in Economics at McMaster University and an honorary professor in the Department of Political Economy at the University of Sydney.
