Luan Dong works for the China Coal Cap Project at the Natural Resources Defense Council, facilitating research from more than 20 partners to develop a comprehensive road map and policy package to help China peak its coal consumption by 2020. 

Formerly, he was a research assistant at the Woodrow Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum in Washington, DC. He has also worked for the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs, the Nature Conservancy and Greenpeace. He holds an M.A. in international affairs and sustainable development from George Washington University.
