Thiago Rodrigues São Marcos Nogueira is a CIGI research associate in the Global Economy Program. His current research covers international trade and currencies, sovereign debt restructuring, World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute settlement and developing countries participation, preferential trade agreements and emerging democracies’ assertiveness in the WTO, private standards and new regulatory barriers to trade.
He is a doctoral candidate in a joint program between the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo and the University of Maastricht. He obtained a master’s degree in international law at the University of São Paulo, where he also obtained his LL.B.
Since 2011, Thiago has been a researcher at the Center for Global Trade and Investments Studies, São Paulo Economics School of Fundação Getúlio Vargas (Brazil). He is also a fellow with the SYLFF/Tokyo Foundation Program and a licensed lawyer in the Brazilian jurisdiction.
