World Bank Graduate Student Conference on International Development

Together with the World Bank’s outreach team, CIGI hosted a World Bank Graduate Seminar which drew graduate students from across Ontario to discuss the practical and theoretical challenges of international development.

The report summarizes the results of this intensive two day event which explored such topics as “what is development;" “what works, what doesn’t and why;" and “careers in international development,” and outlines the results of an interactive and challenging case study undertaken by students with leading development practitioners.

About the Authors

Bessma Momani is a CIGI senior fellow with a Ph.D. in political science, focusing on international political economy. She is currently on sabbatical from the University of Waterloo at the NATO Defense College where she is a fellow examining research and development of emerging and disruptive technologies in dual‑use applications.

Lisa Evans is a lecturer and masters candidate at the University of Western Ontario.

Nigmendra Narain is a  lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Western Ontario.

Edgar Cudmore is a doctoral candidate at the University of Western Ontario.
