In this segment from The Agenda with Steve Paikin, CIGI senior fellow Allan Thompson reflects on the role of media in the Rwanda genocide, and the challenges they face to this day:

"It can take [journalists] awhile a) to get there, b) to piece together what's going on, and c) to then tell the story in a way that is compelling and comprehensive enough that ordinary people back home watching and reading sit up and say, 'Oh my god, what's happening there? Where's my government? Where are our peacekeepers? What are we doing to try and stop this, to try and intervene?'"
