On Wednesday, August 25, the Centre for International Governance Innovation and Bennett Jones LLP will host a by-invitation workshop under the Chatham House Rule on “Canada and the Digitalization of Money.” It will bring together international and Canadian experts to review global and domestic developments in the digitalization of the financial system and to identify the key policy, legal and regulatory issues that must be addressed in Canada. Topics include the respective roles of the public and private sectors; how the design and implementation of a central bank digital currency could drive and accelerate the policy and business response to other elements of digitalization (for example, payments system modernization) as building blocks of a sound and competitive financial system; and the governance necessary to establish and implement an integrated agenda for Canada.
