The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) will host the official handover of the Think7 (T7) coordination from Italy to Canada. This virtual event will bring together distinguished speakers from the international think tank community, academic networks, government representatives and national G7 teams.
This event will offer a forum for exchanging informed perspectives on pressing global governance priorities while setting the stage for Canada’s contributions to the T7 process. It will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the achievements and lessons learned from Italy’s T7 presidency. The event will highlight Italy’s significant contributions to advancing the G7 agenda, particularly through the development of policy briefs, issue papers and communiqués that have influenced global discussions.
Highlights of the program will include insights from the Italian delegation and a formal handover ceremony. Panel discussions will explore the T7’s unique role in fostering global cooperation and shaping global decision making, the challenges and opportunities advanced technologies pose to governance, and a forward-looking dialogue on the G7’s priorities in 2025.
Building on the impactful leadership of the 2024 co-chairs Istituto Affari Internazionali and Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale, CIGI is committed to advancing the T7’s mission, offering innovative and timely guidance to the G7 ahead of the annual summit. The T7 will uphold its core values — peer-reviewed research, foresight and trusted analysis — and reflect Canadian principles of collaboration, inclusivity and constructive engagement.
