Sarah Burch is a senior fellow with CIGI’s Global Economy Program, where she is contributing to research on financing sustainable development, focused on the exploration of innovative solutions to address challenges associated with climate change and sustainability. Sarah is a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Sustainability Governance and Innovation, and assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of Waterloo, Canada.
Wil Burns is a CIGI senior fellow with the International Law Research Program, effective July 2015. Until recently, he served as director of the Energy Policy & Climate Program at Johns Hopkins University, and now serves as co-director of the Forum for Climate Engineering Assessment, a scholarly initiative of the School of International Service at American University in Washington, DC.
Barry Carin is a CIGI Senior Fellow. He has served in a number of senior official positions in the Government of Canada and played an instrumental role in developing the initial arguments for the G20 and a leader’s level G20. Barry brings institutional knowledge and experience to his research at CIGI on the G20, international development, energy and climate change.
Roger Cox is a CIGI senior fellow with the International Law Research Program, effective September 2015. An expert in climate change law, he is partner at the Dutch law firm Paulussen Advocaten and was the lead lawyer for the Urgenda Foundation, which won a controversial decision in June 2015 when The Hague District Court ordered the Dutch government to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 25 percent by 2020.
Neil Craik is a CIGI senior fellow with the International Law Research Program, effective June 2015. He is an associate professor at the University of Waterloo with appointments to the Balsillie School of International Affairs and the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development, where he teaches and researches in the fields of international and Canadian environmental law.
Deputy Director, Environmental Law, International Law Research Program
Silvia Maciunas is the deputy director of international environmental law, with CIGI's International Law Research Program. In this role, Silvia provides strategic guidance, operations coordination and management of the thematic area. Previously, she was a CIGI senior research fellow from July 2016 to February 2017.
David Runnalls is a distinguished fellow and was formerly acting director of the Environment and Energy Program at CIGI. He also provided strategic advice and support for CIGI Chair Jim Balsillie’s role at the United Nations High-level Panel on Global Sustainability. He remains a distinguished fellow at the International Institute for Sustainable Development and a senior fellow at Sustainable Prosperity. David is chair of the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development.
