CIGI Chair Jim Balsillie and Senior Fellow Taylor Owen testified as expert witnesses before the International Grand Committee on Big Data, Privacy and Democracy, which is composed of elected representatives from 14 countries. A group of expert witnesses spoke about what they believe to be the most pressing issues facing lawmakers when it comes to protecting the rights of citizens in the digital age.

Event Speakers

In addition to his commitment to CIGI, Jim Balsillie is the founder of the Balsillie School of International Affairs, the Centre for Digital Rights and the Arctic Research Foundation, and co-founder of the Council of Canadian Innovators.

Taylor Owen is a CIGI senior fellow and the host of the Big Tech podcast. He is an expert on the governance of emerging technologies, journalism and media studies, and on the international relations of digital technology.
