Competition Policy Series: What Can Canada Learn from International Developments in Competition Policy?

The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) hosted its second virtual event in the Competition Policy Series, “What Can Canada Learn from International Developments in Competition Policy?”, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Digital technologies are reshaping markets in many profound ways, and these changes are creating new challenges for competition authorities around the world. As Canada looks ahead to a consultation on the modernization of the Competition Act, it is critical that we look to and learn from recent experiences of other jurisdictions. In this second of three weekly panels, recent developments in the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States were discussed, as competition authorities move into the regulation of digital markets.

The panel included London School of Economics Associate Professor Orla Lynskey, EU and UK competition law expert Stephen Kinsella, and global internet policy and technology researcher Chris Riley. The session was moderated by CIGI Senior Fellow Taylor Owen.
