Bessma Momani, a senior fellow at the Center for International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, Ontario, said there appears to be popular support in Canada for accepting Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun as a refugee, and the decision to do so could reflect well on Prime Minister Trudeau’s Liberal government, which has prided itself on taking a feminist and human-rights approach to foreign policy.
