CIGI Senior Fellow Allan Thompson appeared on Global News to discuss his new book, Media and Mass Atrocity: The Rwanda Genocide and Beyond, published by CIGI Press:

"The fog of war made it very difficult for the journalists who were on the ground to understand exactly what they were seeing," said Thompson. "It literally took a few weeks or longer before anyone called it what it really was, and that was genocide...Twenty-five years later, I'm not convinced that we're doing any better job of helping people to understand what's happening in complex environments like Rwanda...We need to figure out a new model."
